Madit Metal: a reference in 3D metal printing

11 de September de 2024

We had the pleasure of chatting with Asier Domínguez, Project Manager at Madit Metal. He tells us that the Basque company was founded in 2020 with exclusive dedication to metal additive manufacturing using SLM (Selective Laser Melting) technology or powder bed fusion, also known as metal 3D printing. It currently has seven SLM machines, making it the Spanish company with the largest capacity in the industrial sector.

Madit offers solutions for multiple metallic materials such as aluminium, steel or titanium in different alloys. This wide range of materials allows Madit to provide services to the vast majority of industrial sectors such as aeronautics, automotive, energy, construction, etc.

The company closed a turnover of 1 million euros, more than doubling the year 2020. For the year 2024, it expects to exceed by far the results of 2023.

MADIT currently employs a total of 13 people and has just finished moving to its new 2000 m2 premises in Zamudio, near Bilbao airport.

Why did you decide to go for Mindtech in its fourth edition in 2025?

We consider it to be a very interesting trade fair in the industrial sector and it is located in an area where we would like to strengthen our commercial work and find industrial companies that we can serve.

Asier Domínguez, Project Manager of Madit Metal

What is the added value for your company to participate in this fair?

At trade fairs, we can show real industrial applications made of various materials using metal 3D printing. This allows companies to see the possibilities offered by the technology and to consider using it when they see similar applications.

What will you present at Mindtech 2025?

At Mindtech 2025 we will bring the latest applications we have developed over the years, e.g. heat exchangers, pipes and manifolds, fittings and brackets, and many novel metal applications in new, more engineered materials such as Ti6Al4V titanium and Inconel718.

What do you think is the differential value of the metallurgical industry and its associated technologies in the Iberian Pole in particular?

In this part of Europe, we can provide a quality service at a lower price than the European competitors in this technology, which are currently in France and Germany. Spain has a great opportunity in this respect in the coming years.

Asier Domínguez, Project Manager of Madit Metal

What challenges do you see facing the industry today?

The industry has, among many other challenges, to fight against external competition, such as Asian products, and to prove its quality at affordable costs. On the other hand, it is also important not to lag behind in the digitalisation of factories and their communication and marketing.

What is needed to meet these challenges and maintain the industry’s competitiveness?

It is very important that companies learn to be flexible in their operations, with ease and adaptability to change, as demand is increasingly changing and customisable.

On the other hand, it is very necessary to be at the forefront of all the possibilities that the digital era offers, adapting new emerging technologies such as industry 4.0, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, etc. to companies.
