Why did you decide to go for Mindtech in its fourth edition in 2025?
Since the first edition, we have been committed to Mindtech, once again supporting the local industry to make Galicia a reference point for the international metal industry.
It is always a fantastic opportunity to meet our customers in person and consolidate some contacts as well as open up new markets.
Alfonso Fernández, Manager of BIBUS Spain
What is the added value for your company to participate in this fair?
“The fact that it is a fair that is organised by the sector itself creates a great power of convocation and practically ensures the success of the fair. The current situation of uncertainty makes it all the more necessary for the sector to come together and join forces, create synergies and boost the economy”.
Alfonso Fernández, Manager of BIBUS Spain
What will you present at Mindtech 2025?
We cannot yet reveal the specific innovations that we will be presenting at this new edition of Mindtech, but there will be a multitude of innovations for the most demanding solutions in the sector and adapted to the current challenges we face as a society, such as decarbonisation and electrification.
What do you think is the differential value of the metallurgical industry and its associated technologies in the Iberian Pole in particular?
In the metal industry we are experts in adapting and constantly working to overcome adversity. Although Galicia was historically associated with the naval and automobile industries, we can see how the industrial fabric has evolved over the years. introducing and specialising in the design and manufacture of machinery for different sectors such as the fishing, food, stone, wood, etc. sectors. The Iberian Pole has a strong industrial fabric with a lot to offer.
What challenges do you see facing the industry today?
The truth is that we are facing a situation of uncertainty and developments will have to be closely monitored in the coming months. Our main task is to continue to help and serve the needs of our customers as normal. In this regard, we have just expanded our facilities in order to increase our stock and adapt our stock level to our customers’ needs in the short and medium term.
What is needed to meet these challenges and maintain the industry’s competitiveness?
In order to respond to the challenges and maintain the competitiveness of the Galician metal industry, it is necessary to address several strategic and operational aspects, such as betting on innovation and technology by promoting R+D. Investing in workforce training and collaborating with educational institutions. Implementing sustainable practices and promoting the circular economy, as well as cooperation between companies and participating in clusters and associations. Develop favourable public policies and facilitate access to finance and be flexible to adapt products to changing needs and improve customer service.
These coordinated and sustained actions can help to meet the challenges and maintain the competitiveness of the sector.
