Successful first day of Mindtech 2021

The Metal Industry and Technologies International Trade Fair opened today the doors of its second edition in a day full of events and novelties.

Opening

The official inauguration took place at 12 noon, with the presence of the institutional authorities collaborating with the fair:

David Regades, State Delegate in the Consortium of the Free Trade Zone of Vigo

Abel Caballero, Mayor of Vigo

In their speeches, the different personalities highlighted the industry’s potential and Mindtech’s vision for the future. Mr. Justo Sierra Rey, President of Mindtech, emphasized in his speech “Mindtech will be a fundamental event to boost the recovery of the sector through optimism and confidence”.

The event was opened by a special performance by singer Andrea Pousa and actor Bruxo Queiman, who have made a performance tailored for the fair, representing the confluence of traditional industry and new technologies.

Visit of the authorities to the fair

After the speeches, the authorities made a tour of the fair visiting some of the stands of the more than 150 companies present at Mindtech. In this meeting they were able to chat with the different companies about the services and products they have brought to exhibit at Mindtech.

Alberto Núñez Feijóo, President of the Xunta de Galicia, stated: “The metal industry and its associated technologies represent 20% of the GDP, 57,000 workers, 4,000 companies, 9 billion in exports, and a total turnover of 12 billion. This is a key sector in terms of employment, wealth, GDP and exports”.

Speakers’ Corner

This year, Mindtech hosts a new space called Speakers’ Corner where the protagonists of the industry, who are its companies, are given a voice! Today we have been able to listen to the experiences and proposals of Imatia on industry 4.0, Everis on hyper-automation, Carburos Metálicos on the efficient use of gases in industry, Esquío, Muutech and Norlean on digitalization and CTAG on the technological transformation of production plants.

Virtual tours

This year we are bringing the fair to you wherever you are! Today we have kicked off our virtual tours with journalist Yolanda Vázquez, who accompanies you every day to virtual tours where you can interact with exhibitors and see the fair up close even if you have not been able to travel. Automation and Robotics Workshop

In the afternoon, the Mindtech Business Area hosted an interesting workshop on automation and robotics organized with AER Automation, where the public could share experiences with some of the companies that are leading this industrial field: ABB, Robotnik, Maviva-Ferrovial, Pilz and Murrelektronik.

International opportunities day

As part of the international character of Mindtech, today we have had the reflections of companies from some of the key countries that are attending the fair this year: Portugal, Colombia, Poland and Georgia. From the hand of their companies, we have been able to understand how the markets of each country work and how to guide internationalization strategies to successfully explore business opportunities in these territories.

Gala Dinner and SEUA-Mindtech Awards

The first day of the fair closed with a gala dinner attended by more than 200 people at which the SEUA-Mindtech Awards were presented. Seven companies received awards for their achievements in innovation, startups, mobility, 4.0 technologies, corporate social responsibility and circular economy. The awards were sponsored by Servitalent, Urovesa, Star Electrónica, Lidera Knowledge, Ctag and Tecnalia.

International and media presence

Delegations from different countries with a strong industrial fabric, such as Portugal, Colombia, Mexico and Poland, were present at the fair. Mindtech has also attracted the presence of all the major national media.
