We had the pleasure of talking to Ramón Ilarri, Managing Director of Neuwalme. He tells us that the company is a global provider of value-added solutions based on oleo-hydraulic, pneumatic and mechatronic technologies. Founded in 1982 as a family business with private capital, over the years the company has grown continuously expanding its portfolio of products and services, becoming a global supplier focused on serving its customers in different sectors: shipbuilding, automotive, energy, equipment manufacturers, food, steel, etc.
In recent years, this growth has led to Neuwalme’s Group structure, with the incorporation of the company Neuwalme-Store, which specialises in the manufacture of flexible pipes and the supply of technical components for the technologies and sectors in which Neuwalme has been active.
The innovative character of the Neuwalme Group since its foundation has meant that it has always been at the forefront in the management of gas and fluid technologies in which it has historically worked. In recent years, it has developed a new line of business associated with green hydrogen, which has positioned Neuwalme as a benchmark supplier in this emerging energy vector.
The internationalisation of the Neuwalme Group through partnerships with its customers/partners and sustained growth are the challenges for the coming years. For this, a strong organisational structure with a focus on knowledge generation is the basis for the achievement of its goals.
Why did you decide to go for Mindtech in its fourth edition in 2025?
NEUWALME is fully committed to Mindtech. It is essential to highlight the industrial potential of our region and the Mindtech showcase is unbeatable. Local companies must support this type of events that strengthen and consolidate us both nationally and internationally.
What is the added value for your company to participate in this fair?
Positioning both commercially and from a technical point of view. It allows us to show Neuwalme’s progress, technologically speaking, but also brings us closer to markets, customers, suppliers,… in a concentrated event suitable for the improvement of our commercial positioning.
Ramón Ilarri, General Manager
What will you present at Mindtech 2025?
In addition to showing the technological evolution within the historical business lines of Neuwalme, for this edition we will emphasize two topics that we understand fundamental for the future of our organization: Integral and containerized solutions of oil-hydraulic equipment including the necessary automation, which give response to global projects located in any location worldwide, we will present a model of a real equipment industrially integrated in an installation in Africa and that has been replicated for other projects in other locations (Asia and America).
On the other hand, we will continue to show our advances in the integration of H2 as a new energy vector, and just as in the previous edition we presented an H2 dispenser, in this one we will show our advances in special Skids for blending installations in different applications.
What do you think is the differential value of the metallurgical industry and its associated technologies in the Iberian Pole in particular?
The ecosystem created around the metal industry is rich, not only in terms of the number of internationally competitive companies, but also in terms of the technologies they manage, giving us access to all kinds of industrial sectors and markets. As companies we have evolved in all aspects and have adapted to the demands of our clients, we are now prepared to take on all types of projects.
What challenges do you see facing the industry today?
The changing environment, not only from the point of view of technology, and the geopolitical situation, we are immersed in profound changes associated with the decarbonisation of our industry, transport, … in the end the model of society changes and companies must adapt. I believe that we have been doing so in recent years, but perhaps in the coming years the confluence of so many variables at the same time will make the challenge even greater.
What is needed to meet these challenges and maintain the industry’s competitiveness?
Institutional support is fundamental, but I am not just referring to economic support; it is usually more important to create a secure ecosystem that makes it easier for companies to make decisions of all kinds. A clear and stable regulatory environment, long-term policies, … are examples of actions that must be coordinated from the administration, with the support of companies, to respond to the challenges and challenges in which we are already immersed. On the other hand, cooperation between companies is very important; industrial associations must be able to strengthen the capacities and opportunities of the sector, and in this way provide the exact response to the needs that the market requires.
