“Mindtech is a key event for industrial and technological development” – Enrique Besada, Manager of Sumelga Galicia

2 de September de 2025

In this interview for Global Industry magazine, Enrique Besada, manager of Sumelga Galicia, highlights the importance of the Mindtech fair as a space for exchanging ideas, contacts and opportunities: ‘Mindtech is a key event for industrial and technological development, and we are delighted to be part of it.’

What have these nearly 25 years been like, and what projects are you working on in the medium term?

Over the course of nearly 25 years, Sumelga Galicia has evolved steadily, adapting to market needs and committing to service excellence. Our history has been marked by innovation and continuous improvement, allowing us to establish ourselves as a leader in the distribution and storage of electrical equipment. In recent years, we have been experiencing significant growth, both in terms of infrastructure and industry.

We are currently working on expanding our facilities in the north-west, focusing particularly on the industrial area. Of course, none of this expansion would be possible without an element that we consider key to the company. I am referring to our team, which has not only grown in number, but also benefits from the company’s commitment to training, which is essential for providing a professional response to all our customers.

What technological developments or innovation challenges are emerging?

We are currently undergoing a key digitalisation process, with the implementation of a B2B platform that optimises order management and improves customer relations. This advance allows us to offer a more agile and efficient service, adapting to market needs in real time.

In the area of the environment and sustainability, we have stepped up our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our operations. We have made changes to the packaging of our shipments, replacing plastic packing tape with a cardboard alternative, thereby reducing the use of plastics in our logistics. We believe that these actions not only benefit the environment, but also reinforce our commitment to more responsible and efficient distribution, ensuring that our customers have state-of-the-art solutions in an increasingly digitalised and sustainable environment.

How do you see the future of the electrical equipment distribution and storage sector?

On the one hand, the electrical equipment distribution sector is undergoing a clear process of consolidation, with fewer players but much larger ones with the capacity to offer specific products. In our case, we are striving to grow in size every day by consolidating the specialisation and professionalism of our team in order to continue offering a quality service to our customers in the sector. In the future, distribution will also be geared towards greater digitalisation and automation, adapting to new market demands.

In this regard, the priority objective is to continue with the digitisation process we have already begun, implementing technological solutions that optimise order management, customer relations and the efficiency of our processes.
