  • The organisers of the fair have travelled to China on a trade mission to Zhejiang province, in conjunction with the Regional Government of Galicia through Igape, the Vigo Free Trade Zone Consortium, the municipal government of Hangzhou and the multinational CITIC, an Asime partner through its subsidiary Citic HIC Gándara Censa in O Porriño.
  • During the visit, business, commercial and institutional ties were strengthened with the aim of bolstering cooperation between the Galician and Chinese economies, with a particular focus on the metal sector, given its strategic role in Zhejiang in areas such as advanced manufacturing, new materials, the automotive industry, the aerospace sector and renewable energy.

The organisers of the Mindtech fair took part this week in a trade mission to Zhejiang Province (China), a meeting organised by the Galician Regional Government through Igape, the Vigo Free Trade Zone Consortium, the municipal government of Hangzhou and the multinational CITIC, an Asime partner through its subsidiary Citic HIC Gándara Censa in O Porriño. This mission has helped to strengthen business, commercial and institutional collaboration between the two regions, establishing itself as a key platform for opening up new business opportunities, driving technological innovation and deepening industrial cooperation between Galicia and one of China’s most dynamic economic regions.

Zhejiang Province, on China’s east coast, is one of the country’s leading industrial and export hubs, boasting a highly dynamic business sector specialising in industries such as metal, machinery and industrial technologies. Its capital, Hangzhou, combines a solid manufacturing base with a powerful innovation ecosystem — driven by companies such as Alibaba Group — making it a strategic hub for fostering international collaborations in advanced manufacturing, digitalisation and technological development applied to industry.

On the first day of the mission, representatives from Mindtech, alongside the Galician delegation, met with representatives from CITIC and Zhejiang Province, before taking part in a conference with business representatives from Zhejiang Province. They also took part in a business tour of the city of Huzhou, focusing on strategic sectors such as green energy, electric vehicles and logistics equipment. During the day, they visited leading companies such as SANY Equipment Zhejiang Co., Ltd., an international leader in heavy machinery; Geely Changxing New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd., specialising in advanced electric vehicle manufacturing; and Zhejiang Jiemei Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., focused on electronic materials and new battery solutions.

Óscar Sánchez, Sales Director at Mindtech, stated that “in Zhejiang province, key industrial sectors include the manufacture of metal products, machinery, the automotive industry and components, as well as electromechanics, robotics and new materials linked to energy. In this context, the Mindtech trade fair is emerging as a unique showcase for continuing to build synergies between our regions, particularly in areas such as industrial automation, advanced manufacturing and the energy transition, complementing the local industry’s significant production capacity and competitiveness”.

Mindtech has witnessed first-hand their enormous technological capacity and clear willingness to cooperate with Europe, Spain and, in particular, Galicia. They emphasise that this mission represents a further step in the fair’s strategy for internationalisation and industrial cooperation, and they will continue working to strengthen the presence of Chinese companies at this 5th edition, which will be held at the Ifevi in Vigo from 27 to 29 April, and where companies from the country have previously participated.

They point out that China is already Galicia’s main trading partner in Asia. In 2025, Galician exports to this country exceeded 209 million euros, whilst imports reached 2,141 million euros.
