In this interview for Global Industry magazine, Mario Pérez, Sales Engineer at Redima Group, analyses how industrial companies are demanding increasingly technological, efficient solutions tailored to specific processes, highlighting the key role of automation, artificial intelligence and sustainability in the future of the industry.
What is Rittal’s global presence like, and what are its expansion plans?
Rittal has a well-established global presence, with operations in over 90 countries and production centres in Europe, America and Asia. Since our foundation in 1961, we have evolved from a family business in Germany to become an international benchmark in solutions for enclosure infrastructure, climate control, power distribution and data centres.
Our strategic priorities are constant innovation, digitalisation and customer proximity. We are committed to developing products and solutions that bring efficiency and sustainability to our customers, facilitating the transition to a greener economy. In this regard, Blue e+ air conditioning solutions contribute to significant energy savings and reduced CO₂ emissions.
How are you approaching the digitisation process in your company?
At Rittal, we have approached the digitalisation process as a strategic priority to drive efficiency, innovation and competitiveness. We have integrated digital solutions throughout our value chain: from engineering and design, production and logistics, to customer service. We are committed to using digital tools that enable us to configure electrical enclosures more efficiently, optimise manufacturing processes and offer our customers faster, more flexible and more personalised working environments.
What projects are you working on in the short and medium term, and what challenges do you face in the future?
We have several lines of work. We are promoting innovative solutions, such as Direct Liquid Chip Cooling, which enables AI applications in data centres; the new RiLineX platform, which speeds up the assembly of power distribution systems with up to 75% time savings. In addition, we are developing added value with industrial projects.
For example, all Rittal boxes and cabinets contain a QR code that provides access to a cloud storage system for documentation. It is called EPOCKET and is the free digital institution offered within the Eplan cloud.
Another innovation we are working on in the field of automation is a wiring robot for electrical panels, a prototype of which was on display at the Hannover industrial fair. To give one last example, Rittal has its entire 3D library within Eplan’s cloud-based Data Portal. This allows work to be carried out at any stage of design or manufacturing using Perforex, Eplan and Asys machines in a unified manner. This reduces non-engineering time in the sector.
Our strategy is based on offering our customers the best range of solutions for standardisation, modularisation and digitisation of engineering, manufacturing and operational processes, thereby increasing the efficiency and performance of their businesses.
What is your assessment of your participation in Mindtech?
Our participation in Mindtech has been very positive and strategic. As a leading industrial trade fair in the Iberian Peninsula, Mindtech offers us an excellent platform to present our latest solutions in automation, digitalisation and energy efficiency. It is a key meeting point for strengthening relationships with customers, partners and potential collaborators, as well as allowing us to showcase the added value of our solutions first-hand and reinforce our position as a leading strategic partner in the industry.
